FO: Forest Floor
Pattern: Forest Floor
Yarn: Tanis Fiber Arts Yellow Label DK in 'Poppy'
Needles: 3.75 mm and 4.5 mm (US 5 and 7)
Mods: Changed the brim to k1, p1 ribbing, for a bit more elasticity. Ravelled here.
Notes: I'm so in love with this hat, it's absolutely perfect. It's got a little bit of lace, a little bit of cabling, and lots of great slouch. The hat is super comfortable and easy to wear, and how perfect are red accessories in the blah days of February? Also, I knit this hat in a weekend. which is crazy accomplished for me, because I have a pretty demanding baby.
What's that? You want to know about my scarf? Ah, well- it's a store-bought scarf from England, a gift from Guy who knew I was in love with it- it's got hearts and hedgehogs!! I saw it on a girl in a restaurant, asked her where she got it, but it was all sold out. Somehow he tracked one down for me. It even has pockets at the end! It would be an easy knit, I'll have to make a chart for it.

FO: Grey Beret
Pattern: Star Crossed Slouchy Beret
Yarn: Mirasol Miski
Needles: 4.5 mm and 5 mm dpns (US 7 and 8)
Mods: Added 3 extra charter repeats to make the beret more slouchy, as I went down in needle sizes than specified in the original pattern.
Notes: I pretty much only look good in slouchy hats that add a bit of width to my head, because I've got a tiny little pin head and anything close fitting makes that painfully obvious. So this hat was perfect- I love the slightly unstructured cables, the softness of the shape, and the slouchy factor. Add an awesome pattern with a wonderfully warm and amazing yarn, and you have hat bliss, people.
This hat could easily be knit in a couple days. I was taking my time with it as I was crazy busy the last couple weeks of October with a work conference.I might be the only person who loves November- I find that after the hurricane of busy-ness that Fall is for so many people (keep in mind that here in Canada, Thanksgiving is in October so we have no November holidays), and the chaos of Christmas and the holiday season in December, November is a nice respite from the hectic schedules. And I like the light. It's hazy and soft, and even though I'm often rushing against the clock to get photos before it gets dark, it's still lovely.
Psst- Be on the lookout for a free pattern launching right here next week!!

Dualing FOS: Incognito and Snow White Duck
On the same day as I finished my caplet, I actually finished up 2 other projects, which I've been negligent in blogging about. First up- the completely reversible Incognito.
Pattern: Incognito
Needles: 5mm
Yarn: Knitpicks Wool of the Andes in Dove Grey and Black
Pattern: Incognito
Needles: 5mm
Yarn: Knitpicks Wool of the Andes in Dove Grey and Black
Mods: Basically, I knit two of them. I eliminated the hem, and instead made it totally reversible- one side grey with a black 'stache, the other side black with a grey 'stache. In order to provide a seamless look on both sides, I kitchener stitched the final hem together. This gives the cowl/neckwarmer a lot of extra warmth on really frosty
days, plus a little moustache versatility.
Next up, we have the Duck Duck Goose hat designed by Eliza Toser, who is working on drafting a pattern. This was a combination of test knit and fulfilling a request for my friend (and model) Monica who wanted a white hat. It was also knitted on 5mm needles, in Berroco Vintage yarn.
The hat knits up quickly and beautifully, and would really look it's best in a variegated yarn. The daisy stitch would highlight a lovely handpainted yarn perfectly, and the slightly rolled brim and slouch are really flattering for the wearer. I love this hat! Will definitely make another.
