Knit Notes Giveaway!
(Side note: I've been trying to find a fun backdrop for my photos for ages, and then remembered I have these very fun blueberry and blackberry sheets that I bought in Venice, Italy a very long time ago. It's a bit dark, but I kind of like it!)
I have been loving Knit Notes, recently. The notebook is structured in such a way that it feels like a private space to flesh out some knitting ideas, or modifications. And for a knitter like me who often has a lot of different project son the go, it really helps me keep track of them.
Knit Notes isn't just for those who want to design their own knits. This is the perfect book for keeping track of your projects, such as any adjustments you might make to adjust for the right sleeve length for you, or if you added waist shaping, of it you want to make a more dramatic modification. Each project has four pages assigned for it, with sections to include as much or as little detail as you'd like- sort of like a more tactile version of Ravelry, but in a beautiful book format.
There are incredibly handy guides in the back of the notebook: an explantion of common knitting abbreviations, an overview on different types of sleeves, a guide on taking measurements, and charts for standard measurements for men's, women's, kids and babies sizes- sweaters and socks. There's even a section where you cna document the measurements of those you knit for most- friends and family (or pets!). There is even a bonus pattern for a beautiful, classic funnel neck sweater.
So would you like to win a copy of this amazing notebook? Of course you would! here's how to enter:
Leave a comment saying what you think you would find most useful about Knit Notes, AND your contact info (email or Ravelry ID, please). Comments will close on Sunday evening, and the winner will be announced on Monday.

I keep thinking of ideas for things to make, but I always end up losing the Post-Its and napkins with doodles on them. It would be great to have a nice place to keep it all straight!

As someone who always has 3 or 4 projects on the go it would totally help me keep each project's notes organized. My current notebook is a huge disaster haha. I also do a lot of mods so having a space to keep them all would be great:)

I've looked at Knit Notes a few times in bookstores and said "wow, this looks really useful!" but I've yet to actually buckle down and buy it. I love the idea of having a good place to store swatch and gauge information, and keep track of what I've done so far and what's coming up.
RavId: AmandaLynA
I've been contemplating starting a knitting notebook for a while now and just haven't gotten to it. Starting it in a lovely book like this and being able to keep all my notes and swatches in one place would be wonderful. Thanks for chance to win one.

It would be much more organized than my current folder full of jotted notes and gauge swatches, so it would be great to have it organized...then I'd have to do the same with recipes.... :)
Dana (DanaRae19 on Ravelry)
I'm always taking notes on any paper i find, but i keep losing them. So this hould be a great way to organize my notes.

I like having abbreviations and sizing info all in the same place, and a place to take notes! It looks like a handy tool.

What a great book! It would be lovely to have all my notes in one place! lol! Thanks so much!
I'd give it to my daughter who has just begun designing some of her own patterns. It looks lovely!

I've been getting into designing and this would be a great place to keep all my notes!

I think having all my project notes in one place would be very useful (as opposed to the dog-eared copies of patterns, post-its, etc that exist now :)
I am currently working on a few design ideas to get my name out there a bit more. I feel as though this would help me tremendously. On a side note, I love you blog and your little family, so cute! :)

As useful as ravelry is, I would actually be more likely to use this pretty book.

Having somewhere to keep track of all the measurements of the people for whom I knit the most would be great! Thanks for hosting the giveaway! (bonniebeth on rav)
As a relatively new knitter I think that this book would be super helpful for me to keep track of what I am working on, adjustments I may have made or questions I have for more seasoned knitter friends to help me. I also think this book would would be a great resource/learning tool.
Ravelry: new2knit2011
Knitnotes looks like a really handy book for jotting down design ideas. I think the bits on measurements would be most useful to me.
SheilaOKeefe on Rav
This would really help me keep track of projects, modification notes and ideas, and my own designs. I think it's a great idea!
elizabethlorraine on ravelry
Im still learning so i would find the tips in the book very useful. And the ability to jot down things i learn along the way.
Lollieadele@gmail.com
Seems like a really nice way to organize projects. Though I have never designed, I think would be a great resource for beginners or those interested in designing.
Pushpa (rav: pushpa26)
I think it would help with figuring out armhole shaping when designing.
Anything to help me keep organized with my knitting would be terrific.
I typically use Ravelry to keep track of things, but it would be FAR easier to keep track of little notes and number changes in a notebook I could put in my knitting bag and take with me at a moments notice.
Rav: Serenova
This looks like a gorgeous book. It seems as if it combines all the things I love; knitting, books and writing - that's why I'd love it.
So great. I have pattern notes all over the place and can never find them when it's time to use them. I would love to keep track of all my mods and ideas in one place! I'm expectingsam on ravelry.
I would like to have my ongoing project list in the same place. I have them in books but they are all in different books. And I'm horrible about putting things in ravelry.
RavID: violingirl76
This would be awesome to keep me organized! I've only recently started knitting anything but the basic garter stitch scarf and the information on patterns, yarns and techniques is a little overwhelming.
I wanted to try designing and actually started to make notes in the booklet but mine is not the same as this one. This one is very fancy :) and as for a beginner designer the most helpful part would be all knitting abbreviations and measurements.
I would love to have one:)
( Rav Id: marzenanowak )
This book looks AMAZING! I think the most helpful part of the book, for me at least, would be the measurements section. I have my own little book with people's measurements, but it would be nice to have an organized book with a reference section for measurements :)
Rav id: NikNak08
I love to be as organized as possible, but as a result have weird notes all over the place. I would love to have them in one place, and also one place to write down other things I'd like to try.
RavID: thekittyknitter
aveGNot I like the concept of having everything in one place. I usually have notes and inspirations on post its all over the place. The book looks lovely. Thanks for the chance to win it.
I like that my notes would all be in one place with this book. I often jot things down on random scraps of paper, sometimes the pattern, or sometimes in my phone. Gorgeous sweater pattern in there too!
Rav: knitthehellout
This would be so useful for keeping track of all those measurements and templates, I keep loosing my charts and cut outs, it would amazing to have them all in one place.
Rav ID: mrsmommy
DD is a budding designer - the perfect thing.
Ravid: hrhs
I would love this! First because I would love to actually attempt designing on my own (as opposed to thinking of it).
I also love notebooks! Just like I love printed books, as convenient as ravelry and ebooks are nothing compares to the feel of s book in your hands.
ohmigoodness i love that backdrop!!! its perfect!
I love the measurements portion... i'm always having to look things up and losing my info.... and of course since i store most of my info on post-its with the project or on ravelry i never have the info i need when i need it!
I would totally use this for working on sweaters. I'm always modifying the patterns but then it takes me so long to finish, I forget the mods I make to create mirror images. I spend a lot of time reading my knitting trying to remember what I did.
I'm bigblueice on Ravelry.
Thank you
What a great little book, I think I'll buy it anyway if I won't win! I am a HUGE fan of keeping track of things I accomplished, collecting data and statistics... and I am also prone to scrawl adjustments I made to patterns on some lose paper that I will never find again after I finished the project. So this would be the best thing about the book for me: just keeping track of the patterns I've tried and the adjustments I've made.
I am also super excited about getting into designing one day, and a book like this sounds like it would help a lot with the start. :)
My ravelry ID is TrixieTerrible.

wahoomerryf on Rav
This would be the perfect way to keep all my notes straight! I like the idea of having all my modifications in one place to help me with future projects. I also think it would be a great way of documenting my knitting progress as I become a more advanced knitter with each project.

Let's try this again...
Like others, having one place to jot down all my notes while I'm working on projects would be awesome. Rav is great, but I don't use it for project notes -- I just find pen and paper so much more handy.

This would be wonderful to help me keep track of my projects and any modifications. I tend to use stickynotes, but have lost some key ones recently.
Rav ID: GemfireKnits
What wouldn't be useful? I'd love it mostly for a go to spot for standard measurements for socks. (And I'd definitely make the bonus pattern =).)
travels4adventure@yahoo.com
That would be so portable. I can use my phone for Ravelry but it is such a pain I usually wait than forget!
Everything in it is fabulously useful but for me, I love the portability factor. It can fit in my purse and will always be with me even if my knitting might not.
I'm PprmntMochaMama on Ravelry.
The capturing what you've done and where you're at with a project is invaluable. I always think I'll remember and I never do!

I have a bulging knitting notebook that contains all this kind of information, dates of projects, swatches, samples of yarn, mods or design notes . . . It's about due for replacement :) Ravelry is great and now that I have a camera I've started using it more, but I like to have the scribbled notes at hand when I'm starting a new project or figuring out what I did with that first sock 10 months ago!
I have been knitting for a few years now but only am just embarking on sweater knitting, I would use the sleeve knitting tips/tricks! ravid: mradford
I only have one Project going at a time, and i haven't really modified any patterns yet. This is what i want to change :-) I want to make sweaters that fit me better
I think Knit Notes would be most useful because I really HATE pausing my knitting to log on the computer and put my notes in Ravelry. Or trying to find the little bits of paper I jotted quick notes down on. I also want to start designing some simple knits myself and I think this would be very useful!
Rav: millymom619
As one who just writes notes on any random notebook/post-it/paper/note card that happens to be handy, I would find it so refreshing to keep all of my project notes in one handy notebook. It would be great to have the opportunity to become more organized. Thank you for the fabulous review and giveaway (and especially for such a fantastic blog)!!! RavID-jaydawnrn
I would have the encouragement to get rid of all the random notebooks I have laying around with knitting stuff in them... and just have one pretty one! Rav bridiealeena
I would love this so much as it would be a great way to keep my notes and ideas organized, To have a special place to put measurements for those you knit for would be great.
Lyn - cowgirlknit(ravelry)
Oh for someplace to keep my notes as I knit socks. I'm so slow that by the time I get to the second one I've lost the scribbled notes about the first one (I've even tried using two circs to prevent this problem, but I really prefer DPN's.). Plus it just looks like a lovely book that I think I'll buy anyway if I'm not the lucky one....

Organization!!! I have notes everywhere!!!! Maybe this magical book would help me keep them all in one place and save me from having to forget and re-remember things a million times!
I could really use this to keep track of any modifications I make. Right now I'm just jotting them in the margins of the pattern, but when I go back and look at them later they really don't even make sense to me any more!
Organization! I can finally have a super cute way for all my knitting notes! Thank you for the chance to win!

My scraps of paper and bits and pieces of ideas here there and everywhere could definitely use this. Love that the measurements are in there too having everything you need in one spot.
celticcaston on rav
I think the spiral binding is absolutely cool (geeky, probably). When I want to work on knitting stuff, I don't want to have to hold open a book and sketch or take notes on gauge or texture, I just want it all laid out in front, easy to see and use.
Rav ID: SillyLittleLady
Uh, I have not seen this one before. It would be handy to have all notes in one place. I don't have ipad or iphone so when I'm knitting I'm not on ravelry to keep track of my notes. I usually write onto the printed pattern and then copy into ravelry when finished.
I think keeping my general measurements in one place and having a chart for sizing would be my favourite part of the book. Especially for baby knits (mainly hats) that I make more then once.
surfchick on ravelry
It certainly sounds like a very useful book, but I think the most useful thing about it for me would be the consolidation of notes.
I currently have a 'craft book' notebook that I use for sewing and knitting notes and it ends up a bit of a mess. I also writes notes on printed out patterns and think I'll know what it means later (I don't!). Very useful of course to have all that information but without a system for how to *find* it easily, it's just so many scribbles.
So having all that information for sizing and alterations in one spot? Brilliant.
Thanks for the giveaway :)

It's looks like a really handy book to get organized. Maybe instead of a hundred post it's flying around in and out of tote bags, I could keep my notes all together instead!

The genius of keeping the measurements of others in one handy place is so obvious and yet something I never thought of doing. It would make it so much easier to be sneaky about gift knits...
What a neat journal - I'd love it! I just retired from a teaching career and am hoping to have an "encore" career as a knitwear designer. I've been a knitter and sewer forever. Just posted my first very basic (but very free) pattern on Ravelry and am hoping to offer more freebies (cowls, fingerless gloves, etc.). Any help in terms of organizing, designing, etc. would be great. Ravelry ID is nrichter and my blog is www.iknitshepurrs.blogspot.com
What a handy little book!
I've been trying to create more of my own designs, but it's hard to stay organized because I tend to just write out information and sketch things out on whatever piece of paper just happens to be laying around. This would be super useful for keeping me in check.
Rav: Ashiepoo22
I always make notes about my mods on scraps of paper and most of the time I forgot to document it on ravelry, as well. Then if I need the information again, I have to look for the paper in my big pile of notes. So the organizing function would be my most favourite.

It would not only help me to design patterns but the charts for standard measurements qould also be incredibly useful for me.

I believe Knit Notes would help me get organized. I tend to write notes on any piece of paper that is close and when it comes time to put everything down for a pattern, panic sets in. You know I always loose something.
I think the best thing is that I'd have an actual book to carry around! I use Ravelry, but I love books, and those are still my default when I'm out and about.
Love the sheets!
Right now I have a paper bag where my ball bands are stored and scattered notebooks with project details. I love the idea of putting everything together in a beautiful book. Seems like a great tool for organization.
I would love this as I am an aspiring designer! And it just looks so fun-I'm the girl who has a million notebooks because I just love seeing all that paper...the possibilities!
Oh, forgot to add my Ravelry ID, RebekahEvelyn.
I hope this doesn't screw up the randomness.

I always mean to keep my notes in OneNote or on Ravelry, but usually just end up writing on the pattern printout, which I then lose or crumple to death (my knitting bag is a dangerous place sometimes). Having a coherent physical place to keep notes would be awesome.

I'd love a place to put every detail of a project. My system right now is not working, notes get lost, and it's a time suck.

What a fantastic notebook! I think the best thing I would use it for would be notations about modifications of patterns, and special size requirements for people that I knit for.

I've been eyeing that book up or quite some time now! I looked at in Chapters and loved it. I would find it most useful for adjustments as I tend to do that a bi and can never find the paper I wrote it on. I strive to design in the future :-). My dream! This book looks brilliant! I am what can only be described as a chaotic knitter. I start things with great enthusiasm, make changes, stop knitting for a bit and then come back to it a few days letter having forgotten what I did and having lost the back of an envelope I scrawled my notes on. Maybe this book will give me a bit of help to get myself organised...

I have 3 spiral notebooks with all my knitting notes from time immemorial. I have to do a sequential search when I want to look up something. With this book, I would at least have a place for everyone's measurements. Case in point - I was visiting my daughter in London and she asked for a knitted Chanel-type jacket. Out comes the spiral notebook I took along and I jotted down her measurements and those of a jacket she says fits her well. So, the data is there, but not at all close to my sons' measurements or my other daughter's or my husband's!
What a great idea for a book!! First of all, I love books. And even though I love the internet also and use it tons, I like the idea of having things on paper. Ravelry is awesome but a little paper book of my ideas and progress would be great. Thank you.
The entire book is very useful, but I think that the measurement area is the most useful to me! I just started knitting sweaters, so the measurements will help me make the perfect fit! Thank you for sharing this wonderful book!

I think this book might help me to keep track of my pattern modifications and gauge, which I'm not very good about noting in a permanent place. Having this info at hand obviously helps with future projects!
This would be so useful for me. While I'm pretty good about work knitting, my personal knitting notes get written down in all sorts of places: various notepads, pattern print-outs, and on my computer. Often these get lost or misplaced, or the pattern gets borrowed by my kids for drawing. It's no wonder so many projects get abandoned part-way.

This looks like fun and something I desperately need. I've attempted so many times to organize my patterns, notes, and tips I find, but can't seem to get it together. Instead, all the pieces of paper end up in a bag and every time I need to find something I have to search the whole stack.
What a great way to "knit together" a knitter's ideas! I have trouble containing all of mine but this should do the trick. It's also great to know the author's mission is to share profits to support community development and job creation programs. I'm in!

I think having all my modifications in one place would make sense. Right now, they are all over the place, and sometimes it can get frustrating trying to remember where I wrote down the changes for a pattern. Knit Notes will definitely be very handy.

This looks like a great offline version of ravelry where all your notes are in one place. It's a lot more immediate too, since I only document on ravelry after I've taken physical notes. I tend to have several notebooks flying around, where I document any knitting steps. But that can get quite messy. It also takes away the chore of repeatedly drawing up a basic grid and measurement drawings and so on - you just fill in the blanks. If I don't win one I'll buy one. (hope that doesn't diminish my chances though...)

I just signed up for the "Fit to Flatter" series on Craftsy, and this would be the perfect place to work on my new skills!
Thanks for the opportunity :)

I have been thinking I need or organize all my knitting ideas and current projects and this book would be a great place to start. Thanks for posting
I would love to keep measurements for those I knit for in the same place as notes for the projects! The general sizing information sounds really useful, too.

What a great idea! I haven't seen KnitNotes before and love the idea of it! Internet access isn't always available/reliable in my part of the state, so access to Ravelry isn't always there when I need it. Knitting is very visual for me and when working on a project, the whirlwind of post-its, latte stained napkins and a frenzied sort through a growing, teetering tower of knitting magazines ending in texts/calls to the knitting sisterhood.."do you remember where we saw that cute sweater with the great stitch pattern we were talking about at KnitNite? Oh you do too! You have to because I can't find it!"
Sounds like KnitNotes will help streamline a big part of the project process and in such a beautiful format-and what a wonderful keepsake!
If I had KnitNotes, I might even get to evolve beyond my current RavID: frogginfool and develop my knitting skills instead of my ripping/frogging skills.
Thank you so much for sharing this great find! And thank you for blogging! I really enjoy your blog and frequently share your site ID and the latest entry.
Look forward to my next latte and visit with you VIA your blog. Thanks again.
I started to knit when I was about seven and now I am 24. I have just started to write schemes for things I knit. I've found it not so easy while I knitted just "from my mind"... Actually, it's very difficult!. ;} It is very difficult to track projects and to find the most convenient way to write all the signs.. And.. We don't have books like this in our country so this "Knit Notes" would be very helpful... ;)

Staying organized and keeping track of changes, issues, solutions, etc., when knitting is always a goal, yet rarely achieved. Having all this information at my fingertips and a friendly place to write all my notes might be just the trick!
Keeping track of everyone's measurements and requests! I don't seem to be able to keep them all in one place - except on the computer - which doesn't fit in my project bag ;)

Yes, yes, yes, this is a book I would love to win. I always have many projects on the go, and I always, always makes adjustments....
Thanks for a great blog!!

This must be the perfect book to complete my knitting-corner in our livingroom sofa. I desperately need its assistance in keeping track of gauge, changes I've made to patterns, measurements etc. I am sure it wouldn't have taken 4 tries to make the shrug adaptation I knitted a while back, had I only had Knit Notes handy.
I really hope I win!

It would come in most handy for me for modifications. I have two settings when it comes to knitting: turbo and snail. Basically I will blow through a sweater in a matter of days or take months (or even years) to finish it. If it is the latter I cannot recall any mods I may have made, which can make knitting that second sleeve rather difficult!

I never knit exactly like the pattern I'm knitting from, but really need to write down notes on how I'm changing the pattern. This looks like an amazing book.

This would be good to keep track of patterns and yarn.

A notebook is easier to access at right moment than computer occupied by another family member. Rav id: mintui
I love the fact that I can practically have my Rav project notes offline :) I'm really bad at entering project notes and modification to Ravelry, but having a hard copy note like this would be really useful.

I've always wanted to design but haven't been organized enough. This notebook sounds perfect to help me get started. Thanks for the giveaway.

I've actually longingly picked this up in bookstores before. It looks awesome and I would use it when I travel/visit new yarn shops to make notes of projects I see and to keep track of modifications I make while knitting.

This book looks great! I think I would find the section on measurements the most helpful!
I think I would find everything helpful as I am a fairly new knitter. I perfected my crocheting techniques years ago by keeping copious notes. This looks great!
