New Goodies! Denise 2Go Photos & Review

For my birthday (December 23rd), Guy got me this awesome Denise 2Go needle set, and I love it. It comes with 3.75, 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5, and 6mm needles (that's US 5-10), a crochet hook, 3 different length cords, 2 button ends (for turning them into straights, albeit floppy ones) and an extender (for joining cords). The best part? when it's folded up, it fits in your hand. This is an awesome little kit, full of the sizes that I use the most, and it doesn't get more handy and portable than this. The only thing that keeps it from being the most perfect knitting tool ever is that this is the only colour/print it came in and it is the most girly thing I've seen in a while (WHY would something that comes in only one colour come in gigantic pink roses and polka dots?! ), but the functionality and portability compensate.

This is the first time I've used Denise interchangeables, and I like the click-in mechanism, it's easy and yet stays locked. I'd use this even just for my normal knitting, but we have some trips coming up, so this kit is definitely going to be seeing a lot of travel soon!

UPDATE** I haven't used the othe Denise interchangeables,  but it says they can be used with other Denise interchangeables, so I imagine they are probably similar. The cables are not super flexible, but they feel sturdy, and the joins are smooth. I like the tips, they are sharp enough for me (anyone comfortable using bamboo needles will be fine with these). Addi Clicks are still a superior interchangeable system, but for the really great price and portability, these are tough to beat.

I think knitters can never have too many needles (and sets). What a lovely gift ... and a very sweet hubby! Happy Belated Birthday, Julie.

I have this set too and love it. They did make some Limited Edition sets that were not so girly - I got my mom one that had bikes on the outside and letters or numbers on the inside - but I don't know if they're still making them.

I agree that this looks quite a bit more girly than your usual style but it sounds super handy indeed! Pardon my ignorance, but what is the 'button ends' mentioned?

Happy Belated Birthday!
You will love using these needles.
I purchased the same set in the Fall when my LYS had a sale. I love all the pretty colors and, of course, who could resist the rose covered case :)))
Happy Knitting!

Happy birthday! I completely agree with you, that is a really noxious combination of prints. I think just the polka dots (as they are in shades of green) would have been a better choice as that flower print is a throwback to my late 80's childhood. A time that was filled with NO.

I've never heard of these before. Have you tried other interchangable needles? If so how do you feel they compare?

Happy belated birthday! I'm curious to know if these are similar to their regular interchangeable set. They look the same, just colored. I purchased the pink version of the interchangeable set years ago and I have to be honest, they are definitely not my favorite. The cords aren't nearly flexible enough for me and the tips aren't sharp enough either. On the other hand, it's a great beginner set without having to spend much money!

I really like the girly colors this set has! Pink and green are my two favorite colors and color combo!

This is so cute! And I love your pictures on the snow, but...

I've had the big set of Denise interchangeables for years (got it as a gift awhile back), and so a word to those in cold climates: The needles can become very brittle in cold temps. I used to knit on the train, therefore exposing my needles to the elements, and have had them snap on me! Break right in half!

It could be because it was an older model, and maybe these pretty pastel ones are sturdier, but I'd be careful!

So pretty and colourful! I started out with Denise interchangeables, and I'll use them when my Boye are all taken (which is quite often!). I like the tips, and the click-in mechanism is nice (when my Boyes unscrew that makes me NUTS!). The only reason I don't use the Denise ones as a first option is because I have this terrible habit of twisting the needles, and then the tips POP right off and my stitches run away and I cry a little inside.

these totally come in other non-girly colors! I got a LE VK set, but I got this set for my BFF: http://www.jimmybeanswool.com/knitting/yarn/Denise/Denise2Go.asp?showLarge=true&specPCVID=41775

I got sizes 2-15 knitting needles for christmas. Their interchangeable circular needles. The circular parts just screw in, and it comes in 4 different lengths. I'll never need to buy another needle again!

Happy bday! The button ends are useful to put your knitting on hold if you need to use the needle size for another project. So you can "cap" a string and use your 4.5's for something else, sleeves, etc, and then get back to the body and join in the round and keep going! Now I have the addi lace set and they don't have end caps, but I don't care because they are so awesome to knit with I will gladly give up the little convenience :)

Yeah, that's pretty much the girliest thing I've ever seen. :) But it's really cute! (Honestly, the first thing I thought when I saw the first photo was, "ooooh, cute!!") Thanks for the review -- seems like a pretty cool product!

Oh I need a set of these for travelling! Great review and the comments are also really helpful!
