Modification Monday: Eugenia's Canuck Mittens

Original Pattern: Eugenia's Mittens and Cabled Canuck

Knitter Extraordinaire: Marita (Ravelry ID)

Mods: using the mitten pattern as a backdrop, modified the cables to imitate the cabled design from the hat pattern. Project page can be found here.

What Makes This Awesome: This is a common knitterly conundrum: love the hat pattern, love the mitts (or scarf or cowl), but want them to actually match. I love this solution- Marita had a great hat, and found a pattern that she could modify to create a matching set. It can be really challenging to modify patterns that involve cables, but this is a great solution- using cables that are across the same (or slightly fewer) stitches for the front of the mittens. Perfection!

What a beautiful job you did!
I am a mitten freak and I love the yarn you used. They look soft and snuggly warm.
Happy New Year,
Danette
