Pattern: Star Crossed Slouchy Beret
Yarn: Mirasol Miski
Needles: 4.5 mm and 5 mm dpns (US 7 and 8)
Mods: Added 3 extra charter repeats to make the beret more slouchy, as I went down in needle sizes than specified in the original pattern.
Notes: I pretty much only look good in slouchy hats that add a bit of width to my head, because I've got a tiny little pin head and anything close fitting makes that painfully obvious. So this hat was perfect- I love the slightly unstructured cables, the softness of the shape, and the slouchy factor. Add an awesome pattern with a wonderfully warm and amazing yarn, and you have hat bliss, people.
This hat could easily be knit in a couple days. I was taking my time with it as I was crazy busy the last couple weeks of October with a work conference.I might be the only person who loves November- I find that after the hurricane of busy-ness that Fall is for so many people (keep in mind that here in Canada, Thanksgiving is in October so we have no November holidays), and the chaos of Christmas and the holiday season in December, November is a nice respite from the hectic schedules. And I like the light. It's hazy and soft, and even though I'm often rushing against the clock to get photos before it gets dark, it's still lovely.
Psst- Be on the lookout for a free pattern launching right here next week!!

Julie this beret looks great! I love the slouchiness too. Berets should be slouchy in my opinion.
I absolutely love your colorful fall backdrop. Great photos! I wish fall lasted longer. It's so beautiful.
Beautiful hat, I love the loose cables, so textural! I think it's so funny that you refer to yourself as having a pin head! We call Stella our little pin head all the time, s you're in good company! Can't wait to see your free pattern!
That hat is a perfect combination of yarn, cables, just the right amount of slouchy...love! Also so excited to see this new pattern you speak of!
The slouchy hat is adorable on you. I'm looking forward to your free pattern!
That's beautiful! How many skeins did you use?
Too funny- I have never noticed you having a tiny head, but I *always* feel I need to explain to people that I have a ' tiny little pin head'. Honestly, my head is the same circumference as my 5 year old nephew's! Luckily (kind of), I have a round face, so it makes it harder to tell. I also have largish hands, so whenever I see my hands by my face it just looks weird.
It does look lovely on you! I just finished this same pattern. :) You summed up how great it is perfectly.
A great hat, and it looks adorable on you. Now I want to make this!
Yay pretty beret, i knit the same beret about a month ago with similar mods and did one extra cable repeat, but it still fits a little too snug on my small head, I think I might need to frog it back and add another cable repeat,
looking forward to your pattern surprise :)
this is beautiful! i love the way the cables create an all-over texture. and i think you got the amount of slouch just right; it really suits you!
Oh I wish I had seen this before coffee tonight so I could have complimented you in person!! I love it so much, it looks so great on you! I have the same problems with hats, berets make me look like such a dork and the wrong kind of toque can be a disaster! I happen to have two skeins of miski to devote to this hat and continue to knit out of my stash. ;)
Lovely beret, and amazing colour. Cannot wait for the free pattern..
Love your beret. I happen to think slouchy hats look better on most people, even ones like me with a big ol' mellon head.
And OMG, I adore November too, for exactly the same reasons. Last evening at dusk, the sky was an amazing range of soft pinks, purples, blues, aquas, yellows, oranges, and with the beautiful, darkdarkdark lacy naked tree branches against it. It was entrancing! Plus, it's maximum handknits exposure!
Looks great! Good job!
It looks really good on you! Nice cables!
Love the beret, and the mods suit you perfectly! The color makes your face shine!
Gorgeous hat!
That is SO pretty! The slouchiness is perfect and looks great on you! The grey is so nice against your hair, too!
Too funny! I am just finishing my star crossed today with the same mods....We're on the same wave length!
