FO: Modern Pumpkin Garden

Bright sweaters look better with bright lipstick, no?

Pattern: Modern Garden

Yarn: Plymouth Yukon, in "Pumpkin"

Needles: 10 mm circulars

Mods: None.

Notes: This was a test knit for Veera, who designed the absolutely stunning cardigan, Modern Garden.  It is designed to use the leaf motif as the shaping, which works quite well. This means that where the leaves are broadest, there are more stitches, such as the bust and hips.

I got to choose my own yarn, and I chose the Plymouth Yukon, as it was a great price on Webs. However, I must warn you that it sheds. And sheds. And pretty much sheds more than my fluffiest cat, Gatsby. Giving the sweater a bath helped tremendously, and did adding some glycerin to the soaking time. It's better now, but while I was knitting it.... orange fluff everywhere.

A word to the wise: chunky knits require negative ease. I really recommend that your Modern Garden have some negative ease, too.

My husband G always takes the pictures, and I feel like recently we've really found out photo groove. We had lots of fun shooting these photos on Halloween, but is was SO windy that day!!

Fantastic pictures! Love the buttons on the cardi too. It actually reminds me of a vintage pullover I saw someone wearing once that had the large leaves forming the shaping. Only it wasn't that fitted, being from the 40s.

That's adorable!! So often I feel like sweaters knit with chunky yarn look so...chunky...but this one is very sleek and flattering. And absolutely perfect for fall! I love the photos!

That sweater is too cute! The Pumpkin color is amazing. I love that neckline and the leaf pattern on the sleeves. I'm sure it looks cute open, too!

I wondered if that was a handknit sweater when you posted the picture on Facebook. I'm sure glad that it is :)

Gorgeous! I love this color on you. I really like how the leaf motif shapes the sweater. Also, this is pretty slimming for a chunky yarn.

Really beautiful -- Your recommend negative ease, but I notice at least in the body of your sweater, that the amount of negative ease is consistent. In other words, it doesn't pull more across your bust, or waist, or whatever.

I think that's why it's so flattering, even if in a bulky yarn.

Not a color I'd choose -- but so striking, I can see I might be wrong about that ;-)

Gorgeous, and the vibrant color is so uplifting!

Your husband takes good pictures of handknits--gets all the good details like the lace and buttons and whatnot. A keeper for sure

That is too clever, using the shaping of the leaves for the shaping of the sweater! Beautifully done - and photographed!

That is so beautiful in so many ways. I love the colour (thanks for the heads up on the yarn shed!) I love the design (thanks for the heads up on the designer!) I love the photo shoot, and how happy you look in the pics (and with such a stunning FO, I don't wonder why!) I love excellent designs with chunky yarn, and this one is in my top three!
