Yarn: Knitpicks Gloss HW in Blackberry
Needles: 5 mm/ US 8 circular
Mods: none.
Notes: I loved knitting this. The cables and stitches made for an interesting project to knit, and the size of it meant it was done pretty quickly. I love the final result! The yarn was really lovely- it has great sheen, and holds up really well.
Over the long weekend, I also got a chance to indulge in many of the things I said I wanted to do. I did a bit of gardening, drank gin & tonic (and wine...), ate lots of delicious things (including radishes, one of my favourite vegetables) and had a lovely picnic with friends. It is this very picnic that the above photos were taken! After all, why not get some FO shots when you're doing something fun, right? It was delicious. Erica made a wonderful chickpea salad and lemon tassies, and I made couscous salad and coconut macaroons from Lunch in Paris (I don't recommend the recipe, they ooze everywhere and were not fun to make. I ended up making them in muffin tins just to corral the oozing.)
You may have noticed that we are drinking (well, I'm drinking) wine out of wine glasses. Just because you're outdoors is no reason to drink out of plastic cups! Hey, it's important to
The empty plates pretty much say it all!

What a picturesque scene to debut such a fun knit!
Beautiful cowl! I love getting Knit Picks yarn reviews - I've never used
Gloss HW, and think I'll be adding it to my list.
The picnic looks like it was a lot of fun - glad you have a good May 2-4!
Lovely cowl, and GORGEOUS pictures. That picnic looks like so much fun! It's starting to be that kind of weather over here too; I can't wait!

It's beautiful and a perfect color on you. Then again, you seem to look radiant in *everything*!
It's all been said: the pattern is wonderful, you picked a perfect color, and you look stunning. All I can do is concur. : )
that cowl is gorgeous! what a great color! i love that pattern, but i don't really wear cowl of that size/shape... this requires some thinking about...
You should be a model! Gorgeous photos and very nice cowl. Perfect choice of colour. We've had continuous rain here for the last week or so and your picnic makes me want the sunshine even more!
Absolutely gorgeous! Both the cowl and you of course!! Another one to add to my queue.
And a side note: your cowl looks so much better than the original pattern. :-)
gorgeous! The colour looks great on you. Those photos are very nice too.
Very pretty cowl! Love the color. Your picnic looks like fun.
Just lovely dahling. Looks like you had a beautiful time. And I agree with you about the wine glass thing - you can't drink wine out of paper cups! I have certain friends who invested in sturdy wine glasses for that very purpose. We've had many "happy hikes" together :)
Just out of curiosity, how do you prepare radishes? I'm afraid I'm a bit squeamish, but I'd like to try.
Cheers,
Daisy
Beautiful colour, suits you perfectly, and great pictures. The picnic looked like a lot of fun.
I agree with the wine glass:)
Wow - very nicely done! I always like bold, bright colours for smaller knits and accessories.
Beautiful! That picnic looks like a ton of fun - having wine in the park with friends is one of my favorite summery treats.
I'm obsessed with the knit picks blackberry color, too! It's so lovely and looks great with everything. That cowl is so fun and I love how you styled it. Cowls really ARE a year around knit. It's beautiful!
What a lovely day! and a lovely FO too!
I agree -- the color really sets off your skin and hair!
The beautiful park also helps set off FOs nicely.
I love your lilac post!
I love all of the cowl knits you make. This one might be my favorite!
Wow these pictures make we want to go on a picnic Right Now. The cowl looks lovely on you! Seems like it would be a nice accessory for an outside event to ward off chilly breezes.
This cowl is stunning! I love all your cowls but this one looks really gorgeous.
I discovered your blog through Raverly and I'm in love with it- it's a beautiful place, an endless source of inspiration. Thank yoou for sharing!

Adorable! As usual! And your picnic looks blissfully lazy, how nice.
man, purple sure looks AWESOME on you! that's a beautiful cowl. Looks perfect on you. Looks like quite the awesome picnic. and yes, just cause you're at a picnic, it doesnt mean you have to drink out of plastic cups! :)
Another cute cowl! Great job!
Pretty!
Oh this is super cute!
So pretty, I love the color!
Another very nice cowl! Seems like you are enjoying a really nice picnic too! Don't we Canadians love summer ;-)
What a pretty cowl -- and that color is gorgeous on you! And wonderful photos...makes me want to leave my office immediately and go have a picnic in the nearest park. With real wine glasses of course!
I would really like one of these of my own. The question is, how many times would I look at it and decide against wearing it out for some lazy reason? Or, maybe the bigger issue is, why do I not have enough classy picnics in my life to warrant the possession of such a beautiful garment? You know what, classy picnics win over laziness, Picnic Cowl - you will be mine.
Looks amazing - always inspired by your work!
