Modification Monday: Cranberry Nectar

Psst: Knitty.com's blog had a little feature about Mod Mondays, go check it out!

Original Pattern: Ambrosia

Knitter Extraordinaire: Onkuri (Ravelry ID, blog)

Mods: Change the gauge from worsted to DK, bottom up instead of top down,  changed the neckline and hems, lengthened sleeves, and increased the size of the cabled fronts.

What Makes This Awesome: I love Onkuri's mods, she has a way of taking a beautiful pattern and finding a way to strip it down to the key elements, and rebuild for the most flattering details possible. I love the shallower neckline, it emphasizes the thicker cables and clean lines through the body that end with i-cord hems, which finish off the smooth look. The result is stunning!

Knittys article intrigued me so I wanted to see what you talked about today. You are so right about this mod. I would not have looked twice at the original but the modifications are wonderful. Thanks for helping me look at patterns another way!

This is a beautiful modification. Do you think the width of the cable panels in this modification would also work for those of us with a bit more ample proportions?

This is one of the best mods you've featured - love, love, love that neckline and sleeve length. I didn't give the original design a second look, but this mod - makes me want to queue it.
