Modification Monday: Waterlilies

Original Pattern: Helena and Jaywalker

Knitter Extraordinaire: Laura (Ravelry ID)

Modifications: Using the structure of the Helena cardigan, revamped the design to fingering weight and using the striping yarn to highlight the chevron design from the Jaywalker socks. Great details with specifications on the chevrons can be found on her project page, here.

What Makes This Awesome: This cardigan is a knockout. I love the dark pink inner trim for the turned picot hem all around the cardigan (including the sleeves) which compliments the striped colourway perfectly. I love how this is such a great single skein project (not including the dark pink trim). It's especially great to get creative with pattern modifications and mash ups with baby sweaters, not just because of the small size and quick knit, but because you can do really creative things that might not be to your taste as an adult but looks amazing on a wee one. Just look at the cutie below, modelling this awesome cardi. She's having a good time with the tie closure, too!

I really love this and am wondering if you have plans to make a pattern. I could never figure this out without instructions!!!

What a beautiful baby cardi! The colors in that skein are perfect for a not super girly cardigan, but that little pop really adds something lovely.

Very creative mod.
