Modification Monday: Nemesis Top

Original Pattern: Date Night

Knitter Extraordinaire: Nicola (Ravelry ID)

Mods: Kept the lace yoke, changed the body to striped stockinette, and altered the fit and the sleeves. Project page with great details on the full modification process can be found here.

What Makes This Awesome: Sometimes it's hard to envision wearing an all-lace top, even if you know that you can wear all sorts of things underneath it. I think Nicola's solution was a gorgeous one- keep the lace detail in the yoke, and make the body a solid stockinette. I also love her stripes, I think they are a clever way of merging the two colours, and the result is perfection!

I absolutely agree! Nicola's mods to this top are great!

I also really love - and recommend - her contrast color panel idea as a way to widen button bands without making them visibly wider. You can find it in her Audrey in Unst. A few other knitters on Ravelry added those to their Audreys. I used them in a different cardigan and I'm sure to it again!

Agreed. The idea of an all-lace top is lovely, but I feel like I'd shy away from actually knitting one for that very reason. This is a great happy medium.
