Wee Wednesday: Anouk as a Dress

Friends, I'm in loooove with this little dress:

Anouk finished 2

Pattern: Anouk as a Dress

Yarn: Knitpicks Comfy Worsted in Light Blue and Peapod

Needles: 3.75 mm (US 5)

Mods: For the side 'seams', I kept the seed stitch edging at 4 stitches wide, not the 8 stitches wide called for in the pattern. I felt it looked more balanced.

How could I resist making little booties to match?

I don't normally knit with cotton yarn, but this was really nice- soft and squishy, and not too squeaky (which is the common complaint of cotton yarn). I'm looking forward to seeing how it holds up after several washes.

I know I don't talk about my pregnancy much, mainly it's because I'm a total amateur and I have no idea what to say... so for those interested,  I'm doing great- sleeping well, feeling good, I still exercise 5 times a week although recently it's been down shifted to 20 minute sessions (for reference, I used to be able to work out comfortably  for an hour before I got pregnant, then about 45 minutes in my first trimester, then 30 minutes...). My back used to get sore until I got the most perfect pregnancy pillow ever  (seriously, I don't think I'll be giving it up even once the baby is out!) I was very late to the pregnancy craving game, but in my 32nd week, I finally started to crave something- pineapple!

I'm 34 weeks pregnant now. The nesting instinct hasn't kicked in yet, though (except in a knitterly way- I enjoy knitting for the baby!)- I've done absolutely nothing to get the baby's room ready at all. I keep telling myself that the first few months she'll sleep in a bassinet in our room anyways, so it doesn't matter... but really, I should get a move on.

So cute! Love the fresh springy blue and green, and the embroidery! Always a hit. The baby won't notice how well organized or decorated her room is, I'm sure she'll just be happy to be out in the world!

I'm glad that the pregnancy is going well. I felt the same way during mine, I wasn't really sure what to say about it...so I didn't!

Don't worry, the nesting thing may or may not kick in. Some women I know felt this crazy urge to do things like bake (not clean or prep for the baby)!

We still don't have a bedroom for E (he's almost 5 months now) and I certainly wasn't overwhelmed with the urge to clean but I did start to get twitchy towards the end about the crib, stroller and car seat being set up. I made about 6 fabric 1m x 1m receiving blankets for my son (all still in active use around the house) but failed to knit anything for him. The urge to knit happened while I was being induced so I had my needles out in the hospital. I didn't get all that far before things changed and I was walked into the OR.

I realise that you are in another province but I put together a hospital packing checklist for my prenatal group, if you'd like a copy? I'll message you about it on Ravelry.

Dress and booties are adorable! I like colors you used.
That's so great you can exercise! I was training pilates in my first trimester than stopped.
The best thing I bought was a body pillow! I just couldn't sleep without it and I took pillow with me on holidays which was pretty funny because it's quite big!
My baby was born on 38week so watch out :-)!

That dress is adorable and I love the little matching booties. I agree, don't worry about the bedroom. We always tease my youngest son (he's 18 now, gulp) because we moved 2 months after he was born so didn't bother making up a nursery for him. He spent most of his first 2 months sleeping on the dining room table!
Glad to hear your pregnancy is going well.

Every detail of the dress and booties are perfect ... all the way to the adorable daisy button by the shoulder seam. Your wee one will be the best dressed baby in town.

I love this post, love to hear that you are doing well, and love to see that sweet little dress. I'm certain you will get loads of ouus and ahhs when the baby models it!

I know you love Coastal Knits and have probably heard they are downsizing the knits for babes, very fun.

So cute!!! I love the matching booties. And it is good to hear pregnancy updates: I have been wondering ^_^
About working out, I think that my stamina went downhill the same way. I used to jog for 45 minutes, then later I had to cut it to brisk walk for 30 minutes and then by the end of the pregnancy I had to walk for 20 minutes, and take a break halfway! My dog was like "WHAT is your problem?"

Good luck getting all the stuff ready- I hope you have the perfect pregnancy, and are blessed with a wonderful baby ^_^

That is the cutest dress and bootie set. Just so sweet.

Side note: I can't believe you're 34 weeks already! Would it be wrong if we asked to see you being all cute and pregnant too?

It's too cute, and I love those matching booties with the lazy daisies! So glad to hear you are doing well, and I'm sure that room will come together in good time. Now is KNITTING TIME!

Absolutely adorable! Glad to hear the pregnancy continues to go so well. And from the volume of knits that have been appearing here, I'd say you ARE nesting.

Very cute! I am now telling myself I really need to get the baby's room finished before the second gets here in... gulp... less than three months. I only cleared my sewing things out of it when she was fourteen months old, and her closet is still full of my yarn, but it's not like a kid needs a closet right away, right? :)

Your baby will be the most adorably dressed baby ever...what great things you are making for her!

Absolutely darling! But you DID nest -- didn't you just move?! I think that majorly counts. One of my best friends did the exact same thing, so I think perhaps it could be part of the hormonal motherly thing?

I wish I could follow blogs better, but having a 1-year old and working part time limits my online time. :)

Best wishes for a healthy continuation of your pregnancy!

Your knitting projects are inspiring. :)
