Wee Wednesdays: Ribbon Cardi and Stripey Frog Legs

DSC_1806

Pattern:  Little Garter Cardi

Mods: Adjusted the needle size, so knitted a size up from my goal size, in order to balance the two out.

Notes: I'm not sure how I've ended up with ribbon yarn (I suspect freebies and swag bags), but it's really tough to know what to do with it once it's entered your stash. I thought I'd try knitting it up in a baby cardi, and see how it turned out. I actually think it turned out pretty cute! The garter texture in the ribbon yarn seems fluffy, and I love the blend of the white and green.

Pattern: Baby Frog Legs

Mods: None.

Notes: Super cute. I love the idea of baby legwarmers (but I know not all my friends totally understand why I'm obsessed with baby legwarmers, and that's okay!), and I was totally charmed by the original legwarmers.  Stripes made this a fun little stash busting exercise, and I'm really happy with how they turned out.

And yes, that is a little yarn wrapped baby hanger! I basically just wrapped some yarn around a plastic baby hanger, since the plastic ones are  super boring, and I like how the yarn just made them seem a little more special.  I was thinking of putting together a quick instructional video for doing it, but it seemed almost too simple. Anyone interested? I won't be offended if you're not!

I'm definitely interested! My daughter is 3 weeks old and is still too small to keep pants up. I have a ton of sock yarn that I can use to make leg warmers for her! Thanks for the idea!

I love seeing these baby knits! That squishy little cardigan looks like the perfect use for ribbon yarn, and hooray for stash busting! I bet that the yarn wrapped baby hangers help to keep the wee little garments from slipping off too. So cute.

Love the yarn wrapped hanger, such a great idea! Would be cute to colour co-ordinate it with nursery room colours.

The ribbon yarn looks fantastic in that cardigan, the buttons go perfectly! Ooh, and I loooove the stripey baby leg warmers. Such perfect colours!

I would be interested for sure! That would actually be a nice gift to accompany a hand knit gift for a shower!

Oh, I think the ribbon yarn worked out perfectly for this cardigan! Maybe I should think more carefully about how to use the balls I have in my stash too. One question...what is the texture of the cardigan? Soft, slippery?

Love the little striped leg warmers...I'm more ambivalent about them for adults, but for babies? Super cute!

I would love to see a video on your hanger decorating method. I'm somewhat crafty-challenged unless I have an easy knitting pattern in front of me ;)

This is going to be one well-dressed kiddo! Suspect I'm not alone in hoping we'll get to see Baby Bliss model all her lovely handknits.

That sweater is gorgeous! I just made the garter stitch kimono style sweater for a baby shower, but I think I like yours better. :) And those leg warmers are too precious. I love them!

That is just the cutest wee sweater. And good use of a yarn that probably would have marinated in your stash for a long time! I love the yarn wrapped hanger. Such a great idea. Imagine all the colours you could do!

I would love a tutorial! I have tons of baby hangers and the clothes sometimes have a hard time staying on. I have even held onto plastic hangers that come with clothes from the store because they hold the clothes better. The only problem is that when my kids pull them off the hanger, it makes holes. This would be a great solution for me.

These are so cute! I love the ribbon cardigan, and I really don't like ribbon yarn usually - nice work!

Cute! The yarn-wrapping will help keep things on the hangers, too.

I knit a pair of legwarmers for our grand daughter every fall since she outgrows them so fast (go figure!). They are wonderful in the car and in stores when a pair of snow pants would be too warm. You will use them lots too!

Those are pretty! I particularly like the daisy buttons! By the way, I tagged you in this fun q&a. I would be interested in your thoughts, if you have some free time to answer the questions!

I am totally interested in a little How To on the yarn wrapped baby hangers. I think they're so cute and while looking at the pic, was wondering how you made it so neat and tidy and hid the ends so well. :)
