G calls these the best oatmeal cookies in the world... and I'm going to go ahead and agree with him.
First, let's make sure our expectations are in line. First up- these are plain, old fashioned, no-frills oatmeal cookies. There are no chocolate chips. It's not a fancy cookie. But hot damn, they are perfection. if you like a classic oatmeal cookie, then this is the cookie for you.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups rolled oats*
- 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 cup butter, room temperature
- 1 1/4 granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tsp vanilla
- pinch off salt
- 1 cup golden raisins
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375F (190C)
- In a bowl, mix together rolled oats, flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
- Beat in egg, vanilla and molasses.
- Stir dry ingredients into butter mixture until combined, add raisins.
- Shape into 2 inch balls and arrange on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until lightly golden brown.
- Try not to eat them all at once.

I think I can make those as part of our Britain in our Kitchen challenge..

Mmmm, I love oatmeal cookies. I'll definitely give them a try!
While my husband likes anything sweet, oatmeal cookies hold place as his favorite cookie! We still haven't found 'the perfect' recipe so may have to give these a try. He is partial to ones with chocolate chips in them (though no raisins!!) so that may be an addition. Thanks for sharing!
these look tasty! I definitely want to give your recipe a try
Om nom nom! ...if there are leftovers needing taken care of, you know where to find me...

What a shame about the mod monday! If I had a good project for it I would submit it. :)
Those cookies look amazing! The pictures are pretty, too. :)
I've been on the hunt for a perfect oatmeal cookie recipe, sans chocolate chips, coconut, or anything else which might detract from the taste I'm wanting. I'm pinning this to my cookie board. Thanks for sharing!

Having lost my oatmeal cookie recepie years ago, I will be trying these ASAP :}
About how many cookies does this recipe make?
I finally made these cookies and they are divine. I'm just writing the recipe out and noticed that you don't specify what measurement for the sugar.... I used cups and would assume that's right?
Cheers!
