8:30: the First Eight Days

I've already learned SO much about my wardrobe since I started working on the 30 in 30 wardrobe remix, it's amazing. For example- I own mostly solid colour items, very few prints. Which makes for a seriously dull wardrobe, if you ask me. How come I never noticed this before?! I don't even own a patterned blouse. Seriously.

Also, I apparently do not like having my photo taken every day. If G was available, we snapped a shot on the patio, and if he wasn't I used the tripod and my point and shoot camera in the library.

My creation
Also, I still haven't chosen all my 30 items, because it is now clear I only wear about 15-20 items in rotation. My wardrobe is in a rut! This is a lot more work and not nearly as much fun as I thought it would be. I have a lot of work ahead of me.

I'm sorry you are not having so much fun with it. At least it's helping you discover your wardrobe pitfalls.

I love seeing your outfits! Great job with the accessories, a patterned scarf is just as good as a patterned blouse!

It's not boring- it's classic!

I don't even own a blouse!

Looking good so far - very stylish :)

Once done though dressing and adding to your wardrobe should be a cinch.

There are still some very pretty outfits there- and some wonderful hand knitted sweaters! (At least I'm going to assume they are hand-made...) I wish I had the courage to do a challenge like that, but being in college really puts a damper on having a lot of clothes...

Well, I think you look nice! I'm a SAHM with several degrees in music performance, so all I ever wear are old jeans with t-shirts, and then occasionally concert dress! I have almost nothing in between!

oh sad! i'm sorry you aren't having fun :(. you look lovely, though, and i think you have some pieces that could be really fun to play with. you shouldn't have to have a big wardrobe in order to have some fun with it. i like your day 2 lippy!

I agree with Tanis - you do well with accessorizing.

And I bet you'll start having fun again once you get over the hump of having your wardrobe just staring you straight in the face. You've admitted you want more print; I bet it will be fun to get more print in your 'drobe.

I'm in a rut, too. I need to do better about accessorizing. I'm usually lucky if I can grab a pair of earrings. I think you're very stylish, Julie!

I love that you added some hand knitted items to your 30 list. Love your accessories as well. I have mostly solid colors too in my wardrobe. I love to accessorize to make it interesting :-))

This is the reason why I haven't touched my wardrobe! I feel like I would hate what I found! But you definitely look great in all your outfits, I agree with French Press, you're not boring you're classic!

Another voice chiming in with a "classic not dull" vote.

And funny thing is I'm hating the pattern in my wardrobe these day -- shifting towards solids for more mixing and matching, as well as accessorizing with hand knits.

You are looking great, doesn't look like you are having problems putting things together!

Now that I think of it, sounds like wardrobe too, mostly all solids, no patterned blouses at all, and only twomskirts that I never wear!
I think you look lovely in all your outfits :)

ohhh love the first one. I don't own a belt because they are always so loose on me, I just can't get one that fits. I love how you put the belt lower down but over the sweater and the frilly neck blouse with the v neck sweater. Its perfect!

There's definitely something to be said for having a smaller, classic, quality selection of items to choose from, rather than a bulging closet full of crap that you won't be able to wear one year from now, let alone 10, because (a) it will be out of style, and (b) it will have fallen apart anyway. The fact that you always seem to look great, even if you don't think you look exciting, speaks to your excellent taste in what you do have.

That said, if you want some patterns or whathaveyou, there's nothing wrong with adding a piece or two. It's the sort of thing that you don't want to spend too much money on, though, because you'll want to update the bold patterny pieces more often. Think of them as semi-disposable and spend accordingly.

I love your style-so timeless and classic! Your knits fit in seamlessly--they're all so beautiful and wearable. Don't worry about the lack of patterns--I smell fair isle in the wings :)

I generally don't do patterns either. I think there's nothing wrong with the solid colours - it's all about *which* colours you're choosing :) It's like painting with fabric!

Love your outfits! Have to agree with the others: classic, not boring! My wardrobe tends to be in solids in dull colours (black, grey, navy and white) but I love the simplicity and how it allows me to play with textures and accessories without feeling over the top.

you just made me realize that I do not own any patterned items either...it's hard stepping out of a certain comfort zone, right? Maybe start with one blouse for example, and see how you feel?
But honestly, your outfits look great, I really like your wardrobe so far!
