Modification Monday: Vintage Cotton Candy

Original Pattern: Amber

Knitter Extraordinaire: Anat (Ravelry ID)

Mods: Made the slouchy, oversized cowl neck short sleeved pattern into a lovely slim fitting, long sleeved sweater with a slight boatneck feel to it. Sleeves were done in stockinette. Fantastic details are on her project page, here.

What Makes This Awesome: I'm a big fan of the 'macro' effect  lace takes on when knit on bigger needles with chunky yarn. Something so graphic and wonderful about it, and this sweater is no exception. The slim fit and stockinette sleeves are fantastic, and the new neckline makes this look like a completely different sweater. It's gorgeous!

Whew . I just took a look at the original on Rowan's site and I would have passed over it in a fast click! What a difference. The modification is lovely!

I've just finished blocking my own modification of the sweater you made your Mom. Today is assembly day. I'm very pleased with it. Wrist length sleeves and a narrow band, on smaller needles, of the horizontal rib and eyelet part of the border pattern gave the neckline a nice balance. Not to mention some short rows for the bust. Thank you for the pattern inspiration!

I love this sweater! It popped up in my feed last week (maybe because of you) and I favorited it right away! I love both versions so much!

It's incredible! I agree with you about macro lace.

Macro Lace? Em... I like lace but I hate lace weight yarn. I should definitely try macro lace!

It's quite beautiful. The original pattern looks really great too with the cowl and everything but I love how the knitter modified it too.
