What I'm Into Now: New Music

Feeling like you need a catchy little tune? I love this song, and the video is too cute:
Asa- "Be My Man" And this is really making the rounds lately, but I can't resist- It's a great little love anthem:
Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros- "Home" I Also I have a serious girl crush on Oh Land. I love everything she does!! Listen to this, you'll love it:
Oh Land : "Sun of a Gun"   The new Radiohead album dropped on Friday, and this video of Thom Yorke's dance moves is pretty awesome:
Radiohead- "Lotus FLower"

I'm addicted to this conconction I created. I know it sounds gross, but honestly- everyone I've had try this loves it. The orange juice does a good job of covering the veggie taste, but it does turn green. The spinach blends in more thoroughly than the kale, so if you aren't into kale (I'm truly, madly in love with kale, I put it in everything) then just use the spinach. As an added bonus, consuming vitmain c and iron together helps your body absorb both better, so this is really a powerful juice!

1.5 cups of orange juice
1 cup kale leaves (destemmed, with veins removed)
1 cup spinach leaves

Directions: In a blender (or magic bullet, like I have)blend the orange juice and kale together first, for about 60 seconds. Then add spinach, blend for another 60 seconds. Drink and enjoy the fact that you are getting a tonne of healthy stuff in a tasty drink!

Before anyone asks, no, you don't strain it. Get the fibre! The texture is similar to that of a smoothie- sort of thick. I recommend drinking it within 20 minutes of making it, otherwise the veggie bits start to sink to the bottom.   And whatever you do, don't use a food processor-  I tried this in a food processor once, it totally didn't work. Too chunky, and didn't get that smoothie texture.

I know I usually post sweet treats on here, so ta-da! Drink your veggies, my lovelies.

I bet it's a delicious concoction. I do something similar, but I add pieces of frozen banana so the result is more smoothie-esque.

Thank you so much! My ipod needed a pick-me-up. :)

Your veggie drink sounds great! I drink a green smoothie (with spinach and kale) most days for lunch. My latest favorite discovery? Adding 1/4 c flax meal. It has a toasted, nutty flavor that is delicious.

I posted the Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros video a couple weeks ago. Just love them! Good Old War is who I posted this week. You should check them out!

Love the smoothie idea! I just got a juicer and I'm experimenting with different veggie concoctions. I've tried spinach, but not kale. I'll have to pick some up this weekend!

LOVE the music. apparently we have very similar'music tastes. I've been really into Lykke Li, who is similar to Oh Land. I have a girl crush on Lyyke Li. How can I not, she had a video of her performing a song in the toilet!

Thanks for the great recommendations! Except for the Radiohead (naturally), they were actually all new to me. FYI to your readers: the album that "Home" is on is on sale for $5 at Amazon until March 1! Win!

I've just started reading your blog and I sort of have a bone to pick with you. You are not doing a thing to keep my startitis under control. :) Seriously, really enjoying your posts!

That Radiohead video reminds me that I haven't been out to dance in AGES! Need to go soon!

We have green smoothies every morning, along with blended veggie soup, thanks to the Magic Bullit. We get quite a few veggie servings taken care of at the start of the day! I'm glad to hear someone else does this too.

The drink sounds yummy. This reminds me how different the musical tastes are outside of America. I need to vary mine. But I don't know if I would classify the video of Radiohead as "dance moves." It looked more like a seizure. I should know. I have had them.

Great music! I love Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros, their songs are so fun!

I also love kale smoothies! I usually add whatever frozen fruit I feel like with a couple kale leaves and blend in my Vitamix, which is the best blender ever! And the smoothie turns green, but tastes like fruit! Yum!

I LOVED Asa's "Be My Man" when I first heard it a while ago. I'd forgotten all about it, so thanks for posting it! :)

Love the smoothie. I put in a half of a pear, and some berries and flax seed. I use frozen triple-berry blend from Costco, which is raspberries, blueberries and blackberries, I think. Way yummy, and the kids'll drink it regardless of how much green stuff you put in. I also sometimes use a grapefruit instead of an orange. Whatever's handy.

Ground flax is also really yummy sprinkled on top of a salad...
