FO: Eco Aidez
Pattern: Aidez
Yarn: Cascade Ecological Wool
Needles: 8mm (US 11)
Mods: None. Knit it in pieces and seamed just like the pattern told me to.
Notes: I printed off the pattern before the correction to the back cables were made, so my lattice weaving is not perfect (the pattern page shows where the pattern correction occurs). But I don't care- It's beautiful, I can throw it on with just about anything, and it's cozy and lovely. The pattern is utterly amazing- I'm so impressed by how it all came together, and how the collar was done. The sleeves are not too long- my hands were really cold, so I just automatically tucked my hands into the sleeves without realizing. It was -10 Celsius and I was frolicking on the shores of Lake Ontario in January. Cold was pretty much how it was going to be.
I have nothing but rave reviews for this yarn. The whole time is was knitting it, I kept exclaiming, "It's so sheepy!" to my husband, who thankfully thought it was funny. This was my first time using the Eco Wool, and I will definitely be using it again, many many times in the future. It's amazing.
G made this funny little GIF file of me bouncing around in the freezing cold while he snapped pictures of the back:
If you haven't made this sweater, and you enjoy cables, you must knit this. I wear mine all the time- more than any other sweater in my wardrobe, hand-knitted or not.

Oh it is lovely. I can see why you wear it all the time. Love the litle gif too :)
After years of re-working patterns to avoid seaming I'm coming back round to garments knit in pieces and I'm wondering what I was making such a fuss about. The seaming is a little dull but it doesn't take that long, it does help the germent hold structure and it is soooo much easier not to have a whole ginormous sweater on your lap...
Unless it is all stockinette of course.
It's beautiful! I don't know why I've never knit a sweater is a neutral color before. Every time I see a sweater finished in a neutral I always love it, but then I go and pick a COLOR for my own version.
I've got a ton of cables going on right now with my Beatnik and I'm hooked. Cables4Life!
I have favorited this in every way I could. I am going to go Pin it right now.
In short, I adore this and I am rethinking knitting mine in red. I think neutral = win.
I love it! I have been contemplating this sweater for a while, I really want to knit it but kept talking myself out of it because I wasn't sure about the casual, slouchy fit. But seeing it on you and how cozy and beautiful it looks I'm thinking that casual and cozy might be perfect after all!
I've only knit with Cascade Eco wool once, but I totally fell for it too. Those huge skeins are just sooo scrumptious!
This is amazing! I hope to be able to knit this one one day!
It's beautiful, and perfect with your new (ish?) red hair!
A truly great knit. I can see why it's your favourite one. And Eco wool is really great, I just tried it as well for the first time and am amazed how you can get a sweater out of 2 skeins!
Oh, and the gif file is really fun.
I immediately added this pattern to my Queue! Yours is exceptionally gorgeous! I can see how it might easily become a go-to sweater in the colder months! MUST HAVE ONE... ASAP!
What a fun and fabulous post. Wow, that sweater is just stunningly gorgeous. Well knit and modeled!!
Oh you look so beautiful in your sweater! The sweater's great, of course, but you really make this a fantastic photo shoot. Congrats!
This sweater looks amazing! You did such a good job and it fits you perfectly. I love it
It is so freaking cute. I agree; this is the perfect grab and go sweater. I love the gif.
It's so beautiful I will add it to my queue! I'm also curious to find some Eco yarn to test it out. Thanks for sharing.
gorgeous! I've been thinking about knitting this sweater, but I think you've officially decided for me!
The sweater is awesome, and so are you! :-) My Eco Wool does tend to pill over time, but I don't care. I just take a shaver to it and really love it. Congrats on a great FO!
Stunning + comfy cozy = the perfect knit! And BTW, you've ignited some serious cable -- and snow -- craving with those photos and gif.
It turned out lovely! Sleeves that you can tuck you hands into when it's cold out are the best.
Beautiful!! This one has been in my queue for awhile, and yours makes me want to move it up! Did you have to do any adjusting for gauge with the Eco Wool, or did it knit up more or less to gauge? Just from eyeballing it, it looks like your gauge is a little tighter than the pattern & maybe you knit up a size.
It looks lovely! It's funny, I'm working with the exact same yarn at the moment. ;) It's a bit scratchy but I like the fabric it produces. Still a long way to go though. I want a cardigan like yours right now! :)
Stunning! I love your animated pics at the end. So full of happiness over your new knit!
This is beautiful! I'm planning to knit one as soon I find some lovely chunky yarn.
I'm knitting this too but only after reading your post I realized I'm also miscrossing my cables! :D I never thought about it, I really assumed they already changed the pattern! Oh well, it's ok this way too!
Love yours, might lenghten my sleeves if they are short (like me sleeves long!)
Beautiful! And I love the gif. So cool.
It's wonderful when a knitter can knit a pattern without modding :)
I LOVE this!!! This pattern has been in my queue but I have been waiting to see how it turns out for people and yours has totally inspired me. LOVE.
Love this! Looks very warm!
The gif made my day :) So good to see someone enjoy the fruit of their hands soooo much! :)
It looks so wonderful! I might need to add this to my queue.
i am utterly jealous of this sweater. it is amazing. and, as always, G's photos do credit to you and the loveliness of your knits (props, G!), plus the gif is adorable.
Oh, my, you've done it again. Thanks for the direction to this pattern and yarn.
Wow! What a cozy and versatile cardi! It is gorgeous!
It's lovely! I have a skein of the Cascado Eco Wool and cannot wait to CO!
That is really cute! And I must say, your hair looks gorgeous in these photos!
Your post made we want to run out and buy some eco wool and knit that beautiful sweater. Great pictures.
So pretty, I love it! And the jumping around picture is cute too.
It does look like a sweater you'll wear every day. It's lovely. Also love the hopping about pictures, funny!
Yes, I MUST knit this. You and your sweater are absolutely, breathtakingly gorgeous!!!!!!!
All I can say is that "I WANT...!" I must knit this and just happen to have 2 skeins of Eco-Wool in the stash. Yeah!
Very pretty Julie! Love all the texture.
Such a pretty sweater! I'm working on a gray cabley sweater right now too. I'll have to try the eco wool sometime - it really makes your sweater look so warm.
I am always so inspired by your projects! I now want one of my own, in Eco Wool too, and probably gray, because its my favorite neutral color.
It looks gorgeous on you. And that gif pic was really cute. This has got to be one of my favourite favourites!
Lovely sweater! You may have convinced me to try it ;-)
I like that it has cables & some shape.
This is awesome! I love it. Gotta check my stash now :) and the Gif is supercool! Whish I knew how to do that (well wish I had someone who's good at taking pictures...)
I love this sweater! I love that animated gif even more! You're adorable.
I love this pattern and your sweater! Funny, I was thinking about casting on for one a couple of weeks ago but some wips got in my way. Really great sweater you've got there!
Such a beautiful sweater! Now I'm tempted to make it.
Isn't Eco Wool great?
I am not a good enought knitter to knit this sweater, but it is gorgeous! I have however, been wanting to knit with the eco-wool, so I will definitely try it now. Albeit on an easier pattern! ;)
Oh, it's perfect! I can't wait to knit this one; it's first in my queue but I couldn't get gauge with the yarn I ordered for it...maybe I'll go for the eco wool!
That gif is so cute.
Love the sweater! It looks so cozy. I'm planning on knitting myself a snowbird soon.
I've had this sweater on my queue for a while...you've inspired me to try it sooner rather than later!!
Beautiful!!! I love the color you chose :)
This pattern is in my queue, I really want to knit it, it looks so pretty and warm and cozy!
LOVE! Would you be offended if I copied your yarn choice and color, and made myself a duplicate? Because I can't imagine improving upon yours in any way.
Love the sweater, but my favorite part of this post is possibly you dancing around in the snow- too fun! At first when the picture changed I thought I was seeing things :)
gorgeous! I can't wait to make this--and I love that gif!
Beauitful! Thanks to you this sweater is now in my queue.
Oh my goodness, it's stunning! It's cozy and chic and the color is just perfect. Awesome, awesome, awesome FO.
Oh Julie, this sweater is gorgeous, but I can't get over the photos of YOU! :) Someone knows how to work it in front of the camera, hahaha...
tee hee. SHEEPY! I am also loving the yarn. And it looks like maybe we chose the same color too. haha.
This looks fabulous! I can't wait to bounce around in mine too :)
And for the record, I'm usually the type to choose mindless knits, but this sweater is just too much fun.
Cheers!
Daisy
hi julie! this sweater is truly gorgeous. i've had it bookmarked for a while now, but after seeing yours i'm not going to be able to resist casting on much longer!
Julie, you are so pretty!
By the way, Would you please tell me what the date of TTC Knitalong fair.I will go to Tornoto this year.
Thanks!
Hi Wendy, your blogger profile doesn't have any contact info, so I couldn't find an email address to contact you! The TTC knit along is in June every year, on a Saturday. the dates tend to change, so I'm not too sure- there is a Ravelry group, where you can stay informed: http://www.ravelry.com/groups/ttc-knit-along
Usually as soon as I see it in the forums, I sign up!
This looks fantastic! I think I found my next cable project. Thanks!
looks fantastic! Beautiful!
Beautiful sweater - love the cables! Great job! :)
I love your sweater. I just recently finished one just like it, and thankfully spring is slow in arriving so I can wear it for awhile.
it's absolutely gorgeous - great work! i just finished my aidez in eco+, and i'm in love with both the cardi and the cascade wool - new convert.
Very beautiful! You have tempted me...
