FO: OfficeMitts

DSC_0605

Pattern: Susie's Reading Mitts

Yarn: Luxury Collection Alpaca Peru

Needles: 4 mm dpns (US 6)

Mods: None.

Notes: These mitts were a fast knit, and are amazingly soft in the alpaca yarn. I know they look too big on me, and that is because they are- I've got scrawny little bird wrists, and I made a normal medium size for my co-worker, as they were a Christmas gift for her. I gave them to her yesterday before we went our separate ways for the holidays, and she loved them! They fit her perfectly, which I was glad to see. She is often cold in our office, and borrows my fingerless gloves so she can stay warm but still type. It was time for her to have a nice pair to call her own.
My creation

These are a wonderful quick knit- I knit one in a weekend, and the only thing that slowed me down was accidentally making the second one a different size, and not noticing until I had completely finished and woven in the ends. You know, the usual point in time when you realize you've made a terrible knitting mistake. I frogged it and re-knit in the correct size.

I tried to get Yarn in on the FO photo action, but she was having none of it. Spoil sport.

In non-knitting news, I think I've hit upon the shade of red that I like best for my hair (see above). I absolutely love it. But holy crabcakes, keeping up with roots is a lot of work. I foresee going back to my natural dark brown colour next year. I'm too lazy for that kind of upkeep.

Those are some great mittens! I love the champagne colour, so pretty!

Your hair colour is great. I was thinking if it was your natural, in fact. A great choice if one can't tell immediately. :)
Amazing that you had the power to reknit a whole mitten. I think I'd have been the one to knit a new one in the right size and then another one in the 'wrong' size that could be gifted to somebody else.

I have made a few pairs of these. They are so pretty and very useful.

Love the hair colour, worth the effort in my opinion!

Have a Happy Christmas love!

Julie, these are beautiful! Just adding another pattern to the queue! I sent off the Stockholm Cowl to its recipient. I did take some quick photos in the mirror but the turn around deadline was fast. I hope they turn out! If not, I'll just have to make another :P. I'm finishing J's Christmas scarf today and then I'm onto the Dala horse mittens :).
Merry Christmas!! xo

What a great and thoughtful gift! Love the hair colour, red hair is so much fun, enjoy it!

They will make a great gift. I love the red! And hello, Yarn!

I also thought the red was natural for you -- it looks great. I've been tempted to go red, but the upkeep is what's kept me from doing it. I can't afford a professional hair color every 6 weeks! Do you do your own color?

I love fingers mists for gifts. And alpaca! They look very cozy.

Lovely mitts. And that red is gorgeous. Merry Christmas, Julie.

love those --totally adding them to my queue--exactly what I need in the office don't know why I never thought of doing something like this before! I know what you mean about the red --I flip between red and brown often. I feel like as soon as I find a red I like it's discontinued, so the hunt begins again (and red is something i can't be bothered with at a salon since I'd be going every three weeks just to keep it up!)

What a classy co-worker you are! Very pretty mitts, with just the right amount of embellishment, if you ask me.

I'm so with you on the red hair thing! I recently started dying my hair red again too, and oh, the roots, the fading...that shade really does look gorgeous on you though!

I love the attempted kitty shot! My own cat can't control her claws, so it would have been bye-bye mittens. And arms. And probably face.

Spooky! I just downloaded this pattern.

That is a pretty red color, but I understand what you mean about upkeep!

The mitts are lovely, no wonder your coworker loves them.

I had to laugh! I can't believe I wasn't the only one! I did the same thing about a month ago! However, instead of frogging, I had more than enough yarn. Promised my daughter the size to fit her. Now I have one more mitt hanging over my head and I feel guilty every time I sit down at the computer with mine on!

I just made some of those, too! What a great, fun, fast project. Yours are just lovely (the alpaca looks sooooo soft) and your co-worker is a lucky lady!

Oh Julie these are very pretty! Once again you've done a lovely job!

Lovely mitts - they are so pretty. How very nice of you to knit these for a co-worker.

The red looks good on you. I often think about changing my hair color but given my eye color and skin tone I just stick with the color I have.

The hair color really suits you!

Pretty mitts :)

That was always my problem with dying my hair, too. The red looks fabulous though :)

You're so lucky to be able to dye your hair easily! Black hair is pretty impossible to dye. :(

I've had my eye on this pattern for a while...your pictures just might be the boost I need to get up and knit a pair!

Hope you have a very Merry Christmas!

I love those! Even if they are a little big they would still be so cute for you, but what a nice gift. And try having a head full of grays for hair upkeep! ALMOST makes you want to shave your head :)

I was inspired by your post to try this pattern. I'm doing it in apricot-colored alpaca, and it's turning out beautifully. Thanks,
