Modification Monday: Tuxedo Top

All photos in this post are copywright Knotty-knitter
Original Pattern: Sleeveless Tuxedo Shirt

Knitter Extraordinaire: Sharon (Rav id)

Mods: Omitted the lace shoulder straps, created a more shaped silhouette using waist and bust shaping, added length to the body, and lowered the lace packet to give a more flattering neckline.

What Makes This Awesome:  This is one of those patterns that I didn't really look at very long when it was first published, simply because I didn't find the silhouette very flattering. But here, Sharon took the A-line  top and gave it a more fitted and flattering look by lowering the neckline and adding waist shaping. Eliminating the lace at the straps gives the top a bit more elegance and cleaner lines. Now I look at this top and I love how wearable it is- like you could throw it on with anything and it would look perfect. And how lovely are those little black buttons on the crisp white lace? So pretty! Project page is here.

So pretty and flattering! So much better than the original pattern that I could never wear with my body type. I love the lace pattern at the front and the shaping is lovely. I love it!

this is also one of those patterns where i feel like the model wasn't the same size/shape as the original garment was made for. it definitely wasn't until i saw a couple of rav users versions that i started to appreciate how pretty the pattern actually was.

i love this version.

Now for some warm weather to go with that beautiful top! I guess it should be styled with a turtleneck underneath until the temps reach something approaching "not freezing."

Agreed entirely - so much better this way!

How pretty!! That top paired with a black blazer and some sort of scarf would be just perfect for work.

I love her modification. The original looks very dull in
comparison, Sharons version makes me want to knit one for myself.
