Leyburn Love

Eliza and I had a little mini sock swap with ourselves- we each a) secretly picked a sock pattern from the other's Ravelry queue, b) knit one sock, and c) sent the one sock, pattern, and the rest of the yarn to make the matching sock. No more second sock syndrome!! Eliza chose the lovely Leyburn sock by Pepperknit:
(Look at that- a perfect fit!)
Which is utterly fantastic. I love the gorgeous Koigu that she used-a lovely springy yellow. I'm so excited to knit the other sock with this scrumptious yarn! I got a kick out being sent Koigu from the States- Koigu is produced about 4 hours away from me, so it's pretty local, as far as Canadian yarns go! She also tucked in a cute little squid (who now doubt had very comfy ride to Canada with all that Koigu), and a CD mix of awesome tracks! Below is a sampling of a couple of the great tracks she included: The Blow- True Affection Of Montreal- Wraith Pinned to the Mist and Other Games Awesome package. Thanks so much, Eliza!! P.S- I've been on a butterscotch kick lately- probably from making Eliza's Butterscotch Monkey sock. I recently made a vanilla and chocolate bundt cake, complete with butterscotch sauce (from scratch) and pecans. So. Damn. Good!!! I'm going to make this again, for sure.

What a great idea for a swap. I never realized Koigu was canadian either. The yellow leyburns are beautiful and look like they'll be fun to knit.

And um, that cake looks amazing!

Excellent idea! Love it. I fear that second sock syndrome would strike me quite hard indeed.

Mmm... butterscotch....

What a great idea! It's cute that you chose similar colours for each other's socks (great job on the butterscotchy one, by the way!)

And I want to eat that cake. All of it.

That Koigu really is a gorgeous colour. The socks look awesome!

I really like the look of that cake.. I don't know what a "bundt" is, though. Is it like a regular cake, or is it jelly-like? :P The picture makes it look a bit like jelly/custard something, but maybe that's just my screen...

I love the mini sock swap idea. I think it will make the socks that much more meaningful. I love that they are both yellow (did you 2 plan that?)

I'd love the bundt care recipe if you are willing/able to share.

The recipe came from: http://southernfood.about.com/od/poundcakes/r/bl50221g.htm

and I made it exactly as above for the vanilla part, and for the chocolate part, I made the same recipe only adding 1 cup of cocoa powder and an extra teaspoon of vanilla. The butterscotch sauce recipe is:

Butterscotch Sauce

200ml cream

½ cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

50g butter, chopped

Add all ingredients into a small saucepan. Stir over moderate heat until butter is melted and everything comes together. Allow to cool slightly before using.

Enjoy!!

Two things:

1) That is the hands-down very best picture of a knitted sock ever produced on the internet. Clever girl, you put the wider part of your leg up in the air and placed it at the bottom of the picture. All of these wonderful tricks help make said calf look lovely. And, you're not wearing a clog. Don't get me started....

2) I'm a butterscotchy lover, too. That looked so good!
