FO- Lost and M.I.A....

I finished my thrummed mitts on the weekend, and not a moment too soon- we got a big, beautiful snowstorm here in Toronto over the weekend. So I was lucky enough to give my thrummed mitts a fantastic test run on Saturday... which was a windy, blustery day that eventually turned into lovely, snowy night night with lots and lots of drinks (and, um, shots)at a pub with a piano bar.... and somewhere between the pub, the taxi, and my front door, I lost one of my thrummed mitts. Didn't realize it until morning, of course. And the worst part is, I was going to take my camera and finally get some natural light photos, but the snow and the wind were so bad, I didn't think there would be any point. And of course, I'm out of the roving I used. Damn. (standard photo of inside of thrummed mitt) Come back, thrummed mitt! Note to self: do not wear new hand knits when drinking. Ever. To dull the pain of having lost a new knit so soon (and ease the hangover), I baked bread, using this recipe: (partially devoured loaf of bread) I loved this recipe. It was such a snap to make, there was no kneading, and rise time was only an hour. That's a hell of a lot faster than the No-Knead Bread that everyone in the world made. This loaf was fantastic. I can't even begin to tell you how amazing it was to eat fresh, hot bread slathered in butter and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. Mmmmm. Cinnamon and sugar...... I still miss my mitten. Damn it.

What a BUMMER! I knew the perils of drinking and knitting, but drinking and wearing handknits I hadn't thought about. I feel for you.

Wow... I can barely contemplate the horror! I used to lose gloves at an average of three pairs per winter, but since I knitted my own gloves (out of koigu no less) I have held onto the same pair for three years. I temporarily lost one once and spent an hour retracing my steps in a snowstorm, so I know your pain! That bread does look fabulous though.

Mmmmm, fresh baked bread, oh how i love you so...I need to make some soon.

I send out a sorrowful moment of silence for your lost thrummed mitt. Maybe it will find my lost flip-top mitten that left me in December, and they can enjoy the company of others in the Haven of Lost Knitted Objects.

That is so sad! Especially since the mitts are really very cute. I get totally paranoid when I am wearing handknits. I am always afraid I am going to spill or snag or lose something. At least you had yummy beard to comfort you. Mmmm...bread.

Thank goodness for comfort bread, at least. So so sorry about your mitt. At least we know it will stay warm out in the world.

oh no! That really sucks. I hope someone out there has a one REALLY warm hand now.

I want to try that bread recipe. I usually do the no-knead bread recipe (not the 24hr one though - theres a 1 day one too). Thanks for the link!

How sad!! I once decided to knit my dad a pair of socks (it was only my second pair ever, so it was a REAL labor of love) and I accidentally left one on an airplane in Tel Aviv, Israel... come to think of it, I had taken advantage of the in-flight cocktail that flight, so I probably shouldn't drink while carrying hand-knit things either.

Aw, man! And yet this is the second time this weekend that I've had the thought, "if only they'd been idiot mittens!" ;) Next time...

So bad for your beautiful mitt ! I could not imagine the pain... They might do a new alcool awareness publicity about not to wear handknit while drinking , hehe !

I feel ya. I lost a cabled fingerless mitt that I wore (for the first time) to the St. Patrick's Day Parade a couple years ago. You can imagine...

I think you should post LOST signs on street poles. Maybe offer a handknit REWARD.
