Not Much Knitting...

... but a lot of apple pie making. I love making apple pie from scratch. Even if it does take all afternoon.

Have you tried the vodka pie crust recipe from Cook's Illustrated?

I tried that recently for an apple pie. I added too much vodka, though, and couldn't make a nice lattice on top b/c my dough kept falling apart.

Orata, I haven't tried that before! I checked out the link, I think I'm totally going to do that next time, just to see.

Nice pie! Pie should take precedent on occasion.

Oh, YUM. I have some filo pastry to use up now, and also serious sweet food cravings after all of the healthy savoury food I've been eating. I think I may have to make an apple pie (the easy way though, with filo, although I love homemade pastry)

That is a beautiful pie. I am going to have to enjoy yours through vicariously, though, because pie crust from scratch will not ever happen for me.
